What is HoopsHQ?
HoopsHQ is the official mobile app for Basketball England's community, powered by PlayHQ. This free iOS and Android app gives basketball players, families and fans access to live scores, statistics, fixtures, tables and results for every Basketball England competition.
UK Availability Only
HoopsHQ is currently only available to download within the United Kingdom for the Basketball England community. However, it can be used globally if already downloaded to your device.
Getting Started
HoopsHQ is optimised for smartphones and may not provide the best experience on tablets. To refresh any page in the app, simply pull down on the screen with your finger and release.
- Go to the Account area in the app
- Enter your PlayHQ email address (lowercase only) and password
- Use "Forgot password" if you need to reset your password
New to PlayHQ? Use the "Sign Up" option to create your account first. You'll need this to access team management features and set player availability.
Following Teams and Competitions
Make HoopsHQ work for you by favouriting the teams, players, clubs and competitions you care about most.
Look for the star icon throughout the app next to teams, players, clubs, grades and associations. When you favourite items, they'll appear on your home screen with quick shortcuts to results and statistics.
- Use the search function for specific team names
- Browse through clubs and associations
- Navigate through grades and competitions
Grades represent different competition levels and age groups. Favouriting a grade gives you access to full league tables, fixtures and results for all teams in that competition.
Live Scoring and Match Updates
Stay connected to the action with real-time match updates when live scoring is enabled at the venue.
Live Match Features
When available, you'll see live score updates, quarter-by-quarter progression, match clock tracking, and play-by-play events with timestamps.
While you can't watch video streams through HoopsHQ, the detailed live scoring and statistics keep you updated with all the important moments in real-time.
Team Management Features
Management Access Required
Team managers and coaches with appropriate permissions can manage team line-ups and enter scores within the Game Centre. Check with your league/association for access requirements.
Setting Player Availability
Help your team manager plan by indicating your availability for upcoming matches.
- Log into HoopsHQ using your PlayHQ account
- Navigate to your upcoming matches
- Mark yourself as Available or Unavailable
Managing Family Availability
Account holders can manage availability for all their dependants. This information automatically flows through to team management systems.
Digital Membership Cards
Your digital membership card displays all the verification information required on match day, including photographs, roles, and membership status.
- Name and player profile link
- Role (Player, Coach, Team Manager, Referee, etc.)
- Age and gender information
- Team and grade assignments
- Season dates and competition details
- Club and association information
- Membership type and ID photograph
In the ID page, you'll see Active & Upcoming cards by default, plus Completed cards for past registrations. You can reorder active cards by dragging them, and account holders can view cards for all their dependants.
Pending registrations appear with different colours and sit below active cards. Contact your club administrator if you need help with approval.
Team Managers: Access All Player Cards
With management access, you can view membership cards for all players in your team through the match management menu, including ID photographs and player numbers for line-ups.
Sharing and Registration
Share your favourite teams, matches and players with family and friends using the share icon throughout the app. You can share links for games, team pages, player profiles, and competition information.
For registration, visit Club or Association pages and look under the 'Registration' tab. The link will open in your device's browser where you can complete your registration if logged in.
New to Basketball?
Visit the Basketball England website to find a club or association in your area to register with.
Additional Features
Pin to Home: Create shortcuts on your device's home screen for quick access to specific teams, games, or competitions.
Comprehensive Statistics: Access detailed performance data, historical results, and comparative analysis across all competitions.
Restricted Access Message
If you see "Out of Bounds! The competition administrator has restricted access to this view", contact your organisation administrator directly for access or clarification.
Getting Help
For technical issues with HoopsHQ:
- Ensure your device meets minimum requirements (iOS/Android smartphones)
- Try closing and reopening the app, or restart your device
- Submit a support request through the PlayHQ support system
