Understanding season visibility
Season visibility settings control whether or not the season is visible on the PlayHQ public site or mobile apps. This setting works in conjunction with competition visibility to manage what information is available to the public.
Visible Season
When a season is set to Visible:
- The season appears on your organisation's page on the PlayHQ public site or mobile apps
- Public users can view grades, fixtures, ladders, and results (if grades are also set to visible)
- Registration options are displayed publicly
Hidden Season
When a season is set to Hidden:
- The season does not appear on your organisation's page on the PlayHQ public site or mobile apps
- Public users cannot navigate to view any grades, fixtures, ladders, or results
- Registration options are not displayed publicly
Season vs Grade visibility
Season visibility controls the overall access to the season. Even if individual grades are set to 'Visible', they won't be accessible to the public if the season itself is set to 'Hidden'.
Set the visibility of a season
You can configure the visibility setting of a season at any time during the season lifecycle.
- From the Admin Portal main menu, click Competition Management
- Select the appropriate Competition tile
- Click the Season you want to modify
- Click the Settings tab
- Locate the Season visibility setting
- Select either Visible or Hidden
- Click Update & Save
Changes take effect immediately
Visibility changes are applied immediately. If you change a season from 'Hidden' to 'Visible', it will become publicly accessible right away.
Impact on registrations
Season visibility affects how participants can find and access registration, but it doesn't completely prevent registration in all cases.

Direct registration links still work
Even when a season is set to 'Hidden', participants who have been provided with a direct registration link may still be able to register, depending on the registration period set by an administrator.
