Understanding season visibility

Season visibility settings control whether or not the season is visible on the PlayHQ public site or mobile apps. This setting works in conjunction with competition visibility to manage what information is available to the public.

When a season is set to Visible:

  • The season appears on your organisation's page on the PlayHQ public site or mobile apps
  • Public users can view grades, fixtures, ladders, and results (if grades are also set to visible)
  • Registration options are displayed publicly

Season vs Grade visibility

Season visibility controls the overall access to the season. Even if individual grades are set to 'Visible', they won't be accessible to the public if the season itself is set to 'Hidden'.

Set the visibility of a season

You can configure the visibility setting of a season at any time during the season lifecycle.

  1. From the Admin Portal main menu, click Competition Management
  2. Select the appropriate Competition tile
  3. Click the Season you want to modify
  4. Click the Settings tab
  5. Locate the Season visibility setting
  6. Select either Visible or Hidden
  7. Click Update & Save

Changes take effect immediately

Visibility changes are applied immediately. If you change a season from 'Hidden' to 'Visible', it will become publicly accessible right away.

Impact on registrations

Season visibility affects how participants can find and access registration, but it doesn't completely prevent registration in all cases.

Direct registration links still work

Even when a season is set to 'Hidden', participants who have been provided with a direct registration link may still be able to register, depending on the registration period set by an administrator.

Yes, you can change season visibility at any time. However, consider the impact on participants and public access before making changes during an active season.
What happens to existing registrations if I hide a season?
Existing registrations are not affected by visibility changes. Participants who have already registered will retain their registration status regardless of visibility settings.
If my season is hidden, can participants still access My Teams?
Yes, registered participants can still access their My Teams portal and view their team information, even if the season is hidden from public view.
Does season visibility affect electronic scoring?
No, electronic scoring functionality is not affected by season visibility settings. Those with e-scoring access can still access scoring interfaces regardless of public visibility.
